An entertaining picture book that will introduce children to jungle animals while encouraging them to always ask permission.

Bobo the Orangutan on his quest to find the perfect pillow and ensure a good night’s sleep. He’s sure one of his jungle friends will be able to help. He plucks a feather from Parrot and a tuft of hair from Lemur but they only get upset! Bobo is left despondent and still without a pillow. But when Elsie the elephant enthusiastically strokes Bobo and wraps him up in her trunk in an effort to play, Bobo realises where he’s been going wrong. He didn't ask! Bobo learns that he should ask nicely for permission for what he wants from his friends and that it's their choice to give it to him. In the end, Bobo asks his mum for a cuddle and discovers that his mum's arms are in fact the perfect pillow.

Beautifully illustrated, QED’s Storytime series introduces young children to the pleasures of reading and sharing stories. Featuring charming animal and human characters, the books explore important social and emotional themes like friendship, gratitude, perseverance and overcoming fears. A Next Steps page at the back provides guidance for parents and teachers.

Author and Illustrator

Donna David grew up in the West Midlands in a house full of noisy siblings, fun parents, mad aunties and maggots (her dad is a fisherman). She’d often be found reading by torch light way after bed time and this love of reading has never left her. She studied English at Loughborough University and currently works as an English coach at the local secondary school. She is married to an RAF pilot and she has worked closely with the charity Little Troopers on a series of picture books written for military children. Her first YA story, Bruised was published by Badger Learning in 2018. Donna loves writing for children and teenagers and thinks that a child’s imagination is the best place in the world!

Laura Watkins graduated from the University for Creative Arts in 2011with a BA (Hons) in illustration. Since then she has worked on a number of exciting publications, including QED's title What's In Your Pocket?. Outside of illustration, she has experience in art consultancy and has designed the walls of the NHS children's hospital in Lambeth.
